20 Optical Observers

Scope

Optical observers shape and collect light before detection. The family includes lenses, mirrors, apertures, microscopes, telescopes, fiber systems, gradient-index media, and compound optical assemblies.

Entries in this family should follow the shared Observer Grammar.

Observation Layers

Layer Capability description
Medium Declares refractive, reflective, absorptive, scattering, or gradient-index behavior
Geometry Declares surfaces, distances, apertures, axes, and alignment
Transport Describes how rays or fields evolve through the assembly
Receiver Describes image plane, sensor, eyepiece, or other detector interface
Measurement Declares units, normalization, dynamic range, and uncertainty

xPRIMEray Context

xPRIMEray's GRIN-oriented transport work belongs in this landscape as a computational treatment of field-aware ray paths. It may be discussed alongside geometrical optics and optical design concepts without implying agreement with a laboratory instrument or external optics package.

The Technology Landscape optics view records adjacent technology categories. See Project Glowing Heart.
