Observation Atlas¶
A field guide to observation systems — from human vision and laboratory instruments to computational cameras and xPRIMEray.
The Atlas is a map of observation systems, not a ranking of technologies. It describes what each kind of observer receives, transforms, measures, and preserves, without treating them as interchangeable.
The Atlas Constitution states the reading rules for this map. The Observer Grammar and Representation Grammar are the shared forms used to describe entries consistently. New visitors may start with the Observer Journey.

What the Atlas is¶
- A field guide to observer families that inform how xPRIMEray describes sensing and measurement
- A context map placing biological, optical, scientific, computational, and educational observers on one chart
- A revisioned reference with explicit claim boundaries — descriptive, inspectable, and bounded
What the Atlas is not¶
- Not a benchmark or leaderboard of renderers, engines, or instruments
- Not a claim that simulation output equals laboratory measurement or human perception
- Not a physics-validation or parity demonstration
- Not marketing copy for xPRIMEray as superior to existing tools
Why this exists¶
Every observation — retinal, detector, or simulated — follows a chain: something arrives, something records it, something is stored, and only then may someone interpret it.
xPRIMEray is building vocabulary and evidence for that chain in software. This Atlas places that work on a wider chart so observer families can be compared structurally, not collapsed into one "ground truth."
Where xPRIMEray fits¶
xPRIMEray occupies the computational observer territory: simulated cameras, field-aware transport, diagnostic channels, and observatory overlays. The Atlas situates that work beside biological sensing, optical assemblies, laboratory instruments, rendering engines, and educational views — without implying they produce the same kind of measurement.

Relationship to Project Glowing Heart¶
Project Glowing Heart is this repository's protocol, artifact, and measurement program. It documents fixtures, observers, snapshot channels, alignment reports, and comparison readiness as inspectable evidence.
The Observation Atlas provides the broader context — the map of observer systems that inform that work.
The Atlas does not duplicate Glowing Heart milestones. For the evidence trail, see the Glowing Heart Atlas link note.
Reading boundary¶
- The Atlas does not rank technologies or claim that one observer family is "more true" than another.
- No parity or pixel-equivalence claim between systems unless a documented transform and evidence are cited.
- No physics-validation claim from visuals or simulations alone.
- Educational and artistic views are interpretive — useful for orientation, not scientific proof.
